Axe (Somerset)

The Axe emerges from the Mendip Hills at Wookey Hole near Wells. The upper reaches are preserved for trout but as the river begins to cross the lowlandsatthefootof the Mendips, coarse fish, especially roach, chub, dace, and pike, take over. The river ends its 25-mile course entering the Bristol Channel near Brean. There are some opportunities for the visiting angler. Rod Licence: WWA
