Birmingham Canal

This canal starts near the centre of the city. Here, at Worcester Bar, three canals meet, the Worcester-Birmingham (which flows southwest), the Birmingham-Fazeley (which takes a north-easterly course) and the Birmingham which strikes off north-west through Smethwick, West Bromwich, Tipton and Wolverhampton to link with the Staffs-Worcester canal at Aldersley Junction. As a fishery, it is not highly rated and only isolated pockets of fish life are said to exist. The fish are invariably small and the dominant species are roach. Access is reasonable. Rod Licence: STWA (Trent Rivers Division)
