Worthy of note, especially as a back-end river when some extremely large fish can be caught, the Deveron drains nearly 500 square miles and flows some 60 miles before joining the sea at Banff. It is a river dependent on rain more than others in its area. Spring salmon sport is not of top quality but things pick up in the summer and autumn.
The sea trout fishing in June and July, given the right conditions, can be excellent while brown trout fishing in April and May is inevitably good.
