Ewe

This river of Wester Ross, like its counterpart, the Awe in Argyll, is a short river draining a massive loch, in this case Loch Maree. The Ewe, which links Maree with the sea via Poolewe, is only about two miles long. It is a salmon river of some note but is mostly in private hands, its main importance being that it is the lifeline for tnigratory fish to

Maree. Salmon begin running from May and sea trout from June. The river also contains trout. SOS: Feb 11-Aug 26 (Net); Feb 11-Oct 31 (R&L)
