When it comes to Stillwater fishing and scenery, Gwynedd will take some beating, as it includes Snow-donia and Anglesey. Many of the waters listed in this section are at a high altitude and that means they are acid and unable to yield monster fish. Nothing, however, can detract from their scenic beauty and this, for most anglers, is all the compensation they need, if they need any at all! Opportunities for coarse fish are not common in this region – at least when compared with trouting chances – but it does contain huge Bala Lake (in Welsh: Llyn Tegid). This water, the birthplace of the River Dee, has probably frustrated as many anglers as it has satisfied, simply because of its size, but most return for more of its magic. However Bala is not Gwynedd’s only angling attraction as the waters listed below underline.
