Louth Canal

This canal extends from Louth to enter the North Sea just below Tetney lock. The higher reaches are not considered worth attention, the best results being achieved in the section lying downstream of Thoresby Bridge. It is coarse fishing with bream and roach the dominant species. This water is just one of many in this area currently the subject of new leasing proposals drawn up by the Anglian Water Authority. The Witham and District Joint Anglers Federation have now assumed control of the fishing in this canal and officials hope to arrange DT distribution points in the area at pubs, cafes and tackle shops. Enquiries for matches should be addressed to Witham and Dist. JAF.
