Monmouth & Brecon Canal

Originally cut to move cargoes bet-ween Brecon and Newport, this canal is now used by pleasure boats only. A spur runs from Newport up the Ebbw valley to Crumlin and, like the main canal, which follows the Usk valley, has been stocked with fish. It offers mixed coarse fishing with plenty of ticket facilities for the visitor. Some sections in the middle reaches have suffered repeated de-watering in recent seasons due to breaches with the result that few fish are present. Localstiptheupperand lower 10 miles as the likeliest.
