The Naver, with its associated rivers and lochs, offers salmon and sea trout fishing of considerable quality. Much is held in private hands but hotels are sometimes in a position to make arrangements through estates for guests to fish the best of the waters. The Naver rises above Altnaharra and, joined by other streams, enters Loch Naver where April salmon fishing can be quite good. The Naver proper then flows 24 miles from the loch to enter the sea near Bettyhill. It is a fly only river with a genuine run of spring salmon but which, like most others, has declined in recent years. The summer fishing with grilse and summer salmon can be really excellent.
