Rochdale Canal

This canal, privately owned by the Rochdale Canal Company and not part of the nationalised British Waterways Board network, must be one of the most remarkable in the North West. It connects the northern end of the Calder and Hebble Navigation at Sowerby Bridge, Yorks with the Bridgewater Canal, another privately owned waterway, at Manchester. It is remarkable because of the incredible quality of the fish it contains. There are bream (to 8 lb).
