This, as its name suggests, is the national organisation for the game fisherman and the conservationist. Formed in 1903, the Association works closely with Water Authorities and government departments for the improvement of game fisheries, tackling problems which have grown with increases in population, industrialisation and the standard of living. The Association has long been specially concerned with the effects on migratory fish like salmon and sea trout of water abstraction and pollution and continues to fight hard on these and other fronts. The Association has over 70 local organisers throughout the British Isles and, since 1909, has produced a useful magazine for its members. It is an organisation of individual members and current subscription details can be had from the Secretary, Salmon and Trout Association, Fishmongers’ Hall, London EC4.
