Castle Loch This famous water offers one of the few chances any-where in Scotland to fish for bream. Huge catches of these fish, 100 lb and more, are regularly taken here with fish averaging 3 lb. Bigger bream are also present, the biggest caught so far going 10 lb. There is also an abundance of roach and every season sees numbers of specimen pike of 20 lb and more reported. Also present: tench and carp. The water’s other unique quality is that it is believed the only place in the British Isles to contain that rare breed, the vendace. It should be added that these fish, which date back to the Ice Age, are rarely caught.
