Rising in Ogwen Lake in Snow-donia, the Ogwen runs down through Bethesda to enter the Menai Strait near Bangor. It offers salmon (best in autumn), sea trout and brown trout, stocks of the latter being kept high due to first-class restocking programmes operated by the Ogwen Valley AA and the Water Authority. Access for visitors is good.
