The little Steeping river rises on the Lincolnshire Wolds north of Spilsby and flows south-east through Wainfleet to enter the North Sea at Gibraltar Point. It is a typical Fenland fishery with bream and roach the main species. By the time this guide appears, fishing control on this river will have been leased by the Anglian Water Authority to the Witham and District Joint Anglers’ Federation, the body now responsible for so much fishing in the county. Under this transfer, the Federation have also been granted control of the Steeping Relief Channel, a land drainage channel linked to the river at Thorpe Culvert. Rod Licence: AWA (Lines. Rivers Division)
